Elf Magic Musical Theatre Class

Welcome to the magical place that is the North Pole! Imaginations spring to life as you become characters from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, The Year Without a Santa Claus and Frosty, the Snow Man. Perform The Heat Miser Song, Frosty, the Snow Man, We Are Santa's Elves, and more. Learn how to speak, sing and dance for an audience. Find your voice and build confidence as you learn to speak and sing clearly…all the way to the BACK ROW! Coordinate your body and create dance moves that reveal character. Also dive into dialogue and character development as you learn how to memorize lines and conform your body and voice to fit the scene. There will be a performance of the songs and scenes from the class on the last day of class, Tuesday, November 7th at 4:30pm; at the end, each actor will take their professional bow!

You've seen the tv specials The Grinch Who Stole Christmas and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, now perform the classic songs on stage. This class will get you in sync with your fellow actors and having a great time. Strengthen your confidence and musical theatre presence as you learn You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch, We are Santa's Elves, There's Always Tomorrow, Fa Who Doraze, and more. Learn to project your voice, take your dance moves to the next level, and interpret these fantastic songs as only you can.
Acting Big
Time: 10-11 AM

Let’s take scenes from hit Broadway shows, bring them to life, and project your characters all the way to the BACK ROW! You'll practice the building blocks of acting such as memorization and projecting your voice, but your confidence as an actor will really grow as you explore what it means to create fully formed, three dimensional characters! There will be a live performance of all the scenes in the class at the end of the final class on Saturday, November 11.
Production Class featuring The Bees

Be part of a world premiere new musical comedy by John Rea called, The Bees. The Queen Bee has to be re-located to a new and improved hive for the betterment of all but she is stubborn and doesn't want to move. Can the community get her to change her mind? Get into the act of working with an ensemble to tell a funny story. There will be a live performance on Saturday, November 11 at 5:30 PM. The cast size is limited so sign up today!

Mask Acting

Take your acting to the next level. Get to the heart of your character. Discover how to break down dialogue, move with purpose, and build a character. Practice building your memory skills, projecting your voice, and enunciating clearly. Do all of these things in mask. We'll be employing scenes from contemporary dramas and comedies. MacGuffin will supply the masks. This class is essential for actors who would like to audition for our Fall production of Sorceress.
Musical Theatre Class - Contemporary Broadway

Production Class featuring What the Constitution Means to Me

Ready to stretch yourself as an actor? Director, John Rea, will lead you through a new play focusing on how our Constitution dramatically affects our lives. Heidi Schreck's boundary-breaking play breathes new life into our Constitution and imagines how it will shape the next generation of Americans. Fifteen year old Heidi earned her college tuition by winning Constitutional debate competitions across the United States. In this hilarious, hopeful and achingly human new play, she resurrects her teenage self in order to trace the profound relationship between four generations of women and the founding document that shaped their lives. We'll take you step by step and help you build your confidence and take acting chances that will delight our audience. There will be a performance on Saturday, November 11 at 7:30 PM.
Comedy Improv

Comedy and the ability to bring humor to a situation serves you in every aspect of your life. We have a long tradition of creating comedy improv at MacGuffin, with our expert comedians performing in This Side Up Comedy Improv Troupe. This class is a perfect first step in learning how to work with partners, make up wacky jokes and characters, and test your limits…all while having a great time! If you like the tv show Whose Line is it Anyway, then this class is right up your alley!
