Little Twisters 

4-4:45pm MONDAYS – Musical Theatre featuring Disney Songs (starting January 11) – Ages 5-6 ONLY
4-4:45pm TUESDAYS – Musical Theatre featuring Disney Songs (starting January 12) – Ages 6-7 ONLY
Welcome to the world of Disney! Imaginations spring to life as you perform a medley from the Academy Award and Tony Award winning Disney songbook. Learn how to speak, sing and dance for an audience. Find your voice and build confidence as you learn to speak and sing clearly! Coordinate your body and create dance moves that reveal character. The Tuesday class will also work on memorizing lines from short scenes and learn how to perform them. There will be a performance of the songs from the class on the last day of each class (March 1st and 2nd); at the end, each actor will take their professional bow!


SATURDAYS 

YOUTH (7-10 yrs)

9-10am Production Class featuring the new musical, Snake Camp
A musical comedy by John Rea 
Directed by John Rea
This one act sock puppet musical comedy follows a young snake named Slider at a camp for snakes learning snake skills. Slider runs into trouble when she disagrees with Slytherin, the camp leader about the snake rules.  Learn to build your own snake puppet and puppet skills, project your voice,  and take your acting skills to the next level. There will be performance on Saturday, March 13 at 7 PM. All students participating in this class must be available for the Zoom performance.

10:30am Acting Villains
Instructor: Emma Ditnes
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to play the villain? Bring out your bad manners, your stubbornness, your loud voice and your “my way or the highway” attitude. Have loads of fun stepping into the shoes of your favorite baddies. Learn to strengthen your voice, develop your physicality and deepen your characterizations. Don’t worry if you’ve never acted before. We’ll show you how. There will be a short performance of the scenes and monologues from the class on the last day of classes.

12pm Comedy Class
Instructor: Jen Jaynes
Everybody can be funny! Discover how to make your scene hilarious by learning to expand and exaggerate your performance. We’ll help you master making bold and quirky choices for your scene work. We’ll be working with original and established comic sketches. We’ll record the final session and email it to you so you can share it with your family and friends.

1:30pm Production Class featuring The Book With No Pictures
Instructor: Emma Ditnes
This class will feature BJ Novak’s (The Office), The Book With No Pictures and take you on the full journey of bringing a show to life.  Build your confidence, project your voice and memorize your lines while rehearsing and performing a short play! Everyone will get a great part to sink their teeth into. Each actor will also create their own costume. On the final day of class there will be a performance.

MIDDLERS (11-14 yrs) & TEENS (15-18 yrs)

10am Musical Theater: Rock and Roll

You love some of Broadway’s rock musicals, right? Well, join us for this rockin’ good time as we explore the history of rock musicals. Strengthen your confidence and musical theatre presence as you learn songs and dances from Rent, Spring Awakening, Hamilton and Little Shop of Horrors. Learn to project your voice, take your dance moves to the next level, and interpret these fantastic songs as only you can.

11:30am Acting Shakespeare TragiHistories
Instructor: Emma Ditnes
“Experience is the teacher of all things.” Get your Shakespeare experience right here. This class is a must for the cast of our production of Julius Caesar and every actor who wants to take on Shakespeare. Learn to break down the language and put a Shakespearean character into your body. Scenes from Shakespeare’s tragedies and history plays will be rehearsed. Learn to memorize your lines, project your voice, enunciate clearly, and animate your body to fit the character.

11:30am NEW  Film Acting: Production 
Instructor: John Rea
Ready to put your acting skills to the test and make a short film? We’re going to make an original 10-minute Zoom thriller called Lucky Caller. The story follows a teen girl who opens an email that pulls her down a rabbit hole of threats and intimidation throwing her life into grave danger. Learn how to act for the screen and how to produce your own clips for the film.  The movie has 10 juicy parts so register today.

1pm Comedy Improv
Instructor: Jen Jaynes
Making people laugh is one of the great joys in life. Get your funny on while you learn to create comedy on the spot, using simple suggestions and your own top-of-your-head responses. Comedy and the ability to bring humor to a situation serves you in every aspect of your life. We have a long tradition of creating comedy improv at MacGuffin, with our expert comedians performing in This Side Up Comedy Improv Troupe. This class is a perfect first step in learning how to work with partners, make up wacky jokes and characters, and test your limits…all while having a great time! If you like the tv show Whose Line is it Anyway, you can’t miss this class!

Most classes are 1 hour in length except for Little Twister Classes (45 minutes)

All students will be emailed the Zoom link for each of their classes. This link will be used for all 8 weeks.

Tuition will NOT be refundable after the 1st week of classes.
